Lamers,
Nonlamers and Uber-guilds
Since most of the debates are about who are lamers and who aren't, let's explore the "lamer" subject a little bit. If lamers are those who play EQ less skillfully, and assuming that the skills in EQ are accumulated over time, then every player went through or are going through the "lamer" phase. Those who are calling others lamers must have forgotten their own lamer days. Interestingly, having a bad memory should instantly disqualify them from claiming to be skillful EQ players. If lamers are those who play with certain "lamer" styles, such as not fight hard mobs or do break-ins, since doing any "non-lamer" stuff requires a good team, then putting a non-lamer in an unorganized guild would make him/her a lamer. Conversely, if you put a lamer in an efficient team, you suddenly have a non-lamer. If non-lamers are those who possess inherent qualities which are destined to make them non-lamers, I wonder why many Da'Ice players (presumably non-lamers) had to leave their original servers and migrated to Emarr in order to become non-lamers. I assume that had it been easy to become non-lamers on their original servers, they wouldn't have bothered to start over on EMarr. If becoming a non-lamer involves forming or joining the first few uber-guilds on a server, then many current lamers never have a chance to prove they are non-lamers unless they are willing to join an uber-guild or start over on a new server. In business, certain industries attract natural monopoly such as the cable industry. In EQ, the first few uber-guilds enjoy their monopoly status through the nature of the game. There are only a certain percentage of the gaming population that are powergamers. A majority of these powergamers are identified in the race to lvl 50. After the first few uber-guilds are formed, they have an advantage in attracting and retaining powergamers. The only way for other guilds to obtain a similar group of powergamers is through conversion of non-powergamers and infusion of new players. We all know how hard it is for that to happen. It is sad to see that those skillful players have to argue for their superiority in skills. Because individually they can't accomplish any of the "non-lamer" feats that they are so proud of. But bundled together, it is really hard to tell whether they are truly irreplaceable.

OMG, I actually agree with Gerome. It's sad though, anon actually made a few decent points (not all his points were good however). Not sure why this person wouldn't post under their character's name. A little tidbit...if you ever want people to really listen to what you have to say, take a chance and post it under your real name. Thalanthas Brightspire Da`kor

Why is everyone so amazed when they agree with me lately? When will you all realize that I am always right!

Lamers?
I generally stay away from posting on this board because nothing good will come of it. Just a little low down (or is it hoe-down: see Cattie's post), Most of Da'Kor do have characters on other servers. We left for various reasons almost none of which had to do with being pushed off the server by those with more 3l33t ski11z than us. In point of fact most of us were leaders on other servers who migrated to this one because they didn't like the play on that server, or because they didn't like their class, or because they just just wanted a fresh start somewhere else. Believe it or not, many of us actually started on this server. That's right, first gen characters with mad crazy skillz. Ice clan, or so I've heard, left Veeshan because of the exploits of FoH. Not their fault really. If you've ever read the Veeshan board you could easily see why. Overall (did I just say overall? Get a sense of humor everyone) we joined EMarr for various reasons. We wanted to recreate ourselves. We wanted to be on a server that we enjoyed playing on. Whatever the reasons, we did not flock here in massive force to be the sole oppressors of the masses on EMarr. We're here for the same reason everyone else is. We just wanna have fun and play with the people that we grew up in-game with. Zhenny-poo "Dont I have a great butt for only being a year old"

to Gerome and
Thalanthas
Calling others lamers while unprovoked is bad form in general. Gerome and Thalanthas, I understand if you have problems with reading anon posts. But I would like to advise you not to get all worked up by a decison made by an online stranger. In fact, if you have a little imagination, there are many legitimate reasons for an anon post. I also would like to think that most readers judge a message by its own merit, not by the signature at the bottom of the message.

Let me assure you, no one is worked up. In fact, the response to your post is truly underwhelming. Surely you can see how a thread about who is and who isn't a "lamer" posted by someone lacking the conviction to show their name really has no merit. But don't take my word for it, the proof is in the pudding. Noone even read your post and thought enough about its content to reply to it. I guess the moral of the story is if you can't (won't) back up your assertions by tying a name to your arguments, don't bother at all.

I don't agree with Gerome 100% of the time, but I will say his posts generally are thought provoking and humorous. He doesn't post anon either unlike the person who started this silly thread. Walterscott Cleric Level 47 |

If you recall Emarr came out around 2 monthes after the first servers came out. I don't even think there were elite guilds then. I mean people barely killed the ghoul lord when emarr came out. Rayn

oh and btw.... You are not an online stranger. You are a regular person to this board and you are probally well known. You are so afraid of what might happen if these uber guilds hate you cus in reality you wouldn't mind being accepted by them to join them in what they do. That is why you posted anon, and that is why you are a lamer! don't respond to this "anon" cus i'll FLAME YOU bwahahahahahaha Rayn
