It's been a while since I posted something deliberately inflammatory, but as I am reading about farming an allegedly "elite" zone, and the so-called "accomplishment" involved, one thought rattles around in my brain... Reality check. Pathetic isn't just having a list to get into a zone, spawn, etc. Pathetic is spending all of your waking weekend camping in an online RPG, facing no challenges, accomplishing no goals real or imagined, and arguing vehemently that it is "fun". Pathetic is being unable to log out and go to bed when you're tired, then falling asleep at the keyboard. And why? Simply because you feel a need to sit with 40 other people and pray that a mystic widget of uber-geekness drops, and that you win the random versus the 39 other people. Congratulations, if this is you, then you have truly reached the next level of awareness - it's called "automaton". I'm going outside (surely you remember that big bright place outside your window?) and playing 18 holes. Poorly. Food for thought.
